On Monday, April 2, 2018, Akintola Olawale Fayanjuola, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away at the age of 73. Fondly known as “Mr. F.” by his many students, Mr. F. also taught in the Providence School District, finishing his career in the math department at Classical High School.
A quintessential teacher and passionate education advocate, Mr. F. was the father of four Classical High School graduates, Foluke Odafen ‘92, Lara Fayanjuola ‘94, Tolu Fayanjuola ‘01, and Wale Fayanjuola ‘04. They all excelled athletically as well as academically. Foluke and Tolu were inducted into the CHS Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010 and 2013, respectively for their contributions to the CHS Girls’ track team. Wale was inducted in 2016 as part of the 2002 CHS Varsity Championship Football team.
With his very amiable personality, Mr. F. exuded exceptional ardor and geniality with those he met without any air of discrimination. As a result, he made friends everywhere he went. His heartfelt belly laugh, engaging and dry humor, sharp wit and lively anecdotes are fond memories to his family, friends and many students across the globe.
Akintola is survived by his wife, Philomena, their children, son-in-law, Onomen and his grandsons, Osediamen and Osose Odafen. A celebration of his life will be held at a Christian wake-keeping on Friday, April 20, 6-9 PM & a funeral service on Saturday, April 21, 10 AM at Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Ave, Lincoln.
