Tim Vanech
Class of ’91 - Finance Commitee
Tim founded Shorepoint after working as an advisor for over 15 years. He previously worked as a financial advisor for both Morgan Stanley and S.G. Cowen. After graduating cum laude from Harvard College, where he played varsity baseball, he served as a Head Teaching Fellow at Harvard University and earned Certificates of Distinction in Teaching consecutively for all three years. His thought-provoking commentary on equity risk and valuation was featured in Barron’s, and he wrote the Introduction to the latest editions of Humphrey B. Neill’s investment classics The Art of Contrary Thinking and The Ruminator.
As a former teacher, Tim is passionate about education. He serves on the Development and Investment Committees at Community Preparatory School in Providence, RI. He also serves on the Classical High School Alumni Association Finance, Investment & Development Committees focused mainly on the Endowment. Lastly, Tim serves on the Development & Investment Committees of the Westport Land Conservation Trust.
Tim is a gifted and prolific creative writer. His fiction has appeared in Doubletake Magazine and 25-and-under/Fiction, and his poems have been published in Sojourn. Tim’s also a big fan of coffee and donuts. He’s a Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee and an investor in private equity, real estate and several food-related companies. He lives in Westport, MA, and is the proud father of a Conn College daughter and teenage son. In his free time, Tim enjoys golf, racket sports, and being outdoors.
