The Classical High School Alumni Association is collaborating with Classical High School in the To Your Success! Speaker Series, which allows alumni the opportunity to connect with current students to share their stories of success and how their time at CHS has helped shape them.

How do we define ‘success’? At CHSAA, we define ‘success’ as ‘the overcoming of obstacles in one’s personal or professional life through a processes that results in the betterment of one’s self.’ While people often associate ‘success’ with material wealth and a one-time goal to be reached, achieving and maintaining success is an ongoing process that affects many aspects of our lives.

Here are a few things we associate with success: achieving happiness, bettering one’s mental and physical health, self-improvement, acceptance of self and others, developing friendships, career satisfaction, generosity, and a sense of community.

If you have a story of success that you’d like to share with current CHS students, please fill out the form below. Please make sure your story answers the following questions (in no particular order):

1) What obstacles have you faced and how did you overcome them?
2) How has your time at CHS shaped you?
3) How do you define ‘success’?
4) What message would you like to share with current CHS students?

Please note: We will NOT publish your contact information. We require this information so we can contact you, if necessary, regarding this form.

Thank you for having me! It is always a special time to be back at Classical High School – especially when you get a chance to interact with the amazing students who currently attend.

Being part of the Speaker Series was, personally, a very rewarding experience that I hope will help students handle any future life challenges with grit and a growth mindset.

I really enjoyed talking to the students. I wanted to share my imperfections and struggles with the students because sometimes as adults we don’t share our truth and come across as perfect beings. That can at times make success look impossible and add stress. I just wanted them to know it is possible to be successful no matter what is going on around you. I hope I encouraged them to not only believe in themselves but also in the structure of Classical High.

The Classical Alumni Speaker series participation is a way to share the myriad of lessons and knowledge gained through one’s journey from Classical (CHS) to the career world with youth from your Alma matter. As we know, the high school years are critical times of transformation where the voices and stories of Alumni are welcome and needed. The speaker series bolsters the confidence of the CHS youth while promoting the emerging Classical tradition of ‘paying it forward.” In all, the speaker series is one of many initiatives that ensures that Classical will remain strong.

Being able to share a space with Providence youth from my alma mater in such a meaningful way has been one of the most fulfilling experience to realize! I enjoyed every moment of my time with them and left with the desire and motivation to give them more; much more!! An incredible experience.
